FWYLA Update on season in response to Corona-COVID 19 outbreak
by posted 03/18/2020

Dear Fort Worth Lacrosse Family,

As you are most likely aware, in response to the Corona-COVID 19 outbreak, school districts and governing sports organizations such as SPC, TAPPS, and UIL have suspended school, contests and athletic activities.

THSLL/TGHSLL and DFWL/TGYLL (which govern lacrosse in high school for boys and girls and from 1st through 8th for boys and girls, respectively) are also suspending all games through March 29th.

The duration of the THSLL/TGHSLL and DFWL/TGYLL game suspension is based on information available at this time and may change as circumstances warrant.

The FWYLA board is aware that players and parents would like to know the plan for the remaining scheduled games and practices beyond the suspension period and the impact on the 2020 playoffs.  Once FWYLA has more information from the governing organizations (THSLL/TGHSLL and DFWL/TGYLL and FWISD for our field usage) we will be back in touch.

Final decision by FWYLA regarding continuation of the season will be heavily influenced by THSLL/TGHSLL, DFWL/TGYLL and FWISD.  In the event of a season cancelation, the FWYLA board members will meet to discuss an equitable refund policy.  At this time, the FWYLA board asks that you refrain from requesting refunds.  Thank you for your understanding with this request.

There will be more communication as the situation develops.

Thank you,

FWYLA Board of Directors

FWYLA - Who we are.
by posted 04/01/2019

Effort - Character - Fun

Fort Worth Youth Lacrosse Association is a non profit 501 (c) 3 governed by a volunteer board. FWYLA was founded in June of 2009 with a 5/6th grade team consisting of 20 players.

In 2013 the FWYLA Lacrosse program included 2 High School teams, 3 Youth teams, 4 Bantam teams, 2 summer Select teams and over 175 players.  FWYLA has also helped start High School programs at TVS and All Saints here in Fort Worth.

Starting in 2014 the FWYLA Youth Lacrosse teams joined the newly formed DFWLacrosse League.  DFWL  includes all major bantam and youth lacrosse teams in North Texas. Players who reside in the FWISD or do not have local lacrosse programs (Aledo, Weatherford, Mansfield & Cleburne) are also welcome to participate.

We encourage all boys to be involved in multiple sports throughout the year.  The combination of playing multiple sports and playing wall-ball throughout the year makes great lacrosse players.
